The Yokozuna stands as Nama Denim’s heavyweight champion: a 25-ounce sanforizee Japanese selvedge woven under extreme tension and slow speed. Each pair celebrates the spirit of mastery — one craftsman, one pair, stitched and hammered in-house at our sewing studio.
The red full-grain leather patch honors Japan’s Yokozuna, the grand champion of sumo, blowing the emblem of Nama’s eternal pursuit: to push fabric, fade, and form beyond convention. Expect brutal break-in, glorious vertical slub, and the kind of fade only the brave will earn.
Cut with a mid-high rise and a balanced leg from thigh to hem, the Wide Straight fit brings comfort and structure together in one clean line. Built on Nama’s in-house block, it echoes the ease of 1950s workwear but refined for modern movement. The leg drapes naturally with a full 34″ inseam — wide through the thigh, straight through the knee, steady through the opening.
Each pair is sewn with copper–orange contrast stitching throughout, revealing subtle warmth as the denim ages. The waistband, back pockets and front pockets are lined with our signature red sashiko denim.
